Your data, plainly.

Cambs Market is a student-run marketplace, not an official University service. Here is everything we keep and why.

What we store

Your Cambridge email address and a securely scrambled password (held by Google Firebase's login service, never in readable form).
Your profile: first and last name, college, status (undergrad, postgrad, staff or alumni) and, if you add one, a profile photo.
Your listings, their photos, and the messages you send and receive.
Reports you make about listings, and your email-alert setting.
A daily count of how many browsers visited the site, so the owner can see how it's being used. It's just a number per day: nothing about who you are or what you looked at.
Feedback you send with the Beta "Send feedback" form is emailed to the site owner (with your email if you're signed in or choose to add it). It isn't stored on the site.

Visitors who aren't signed in see a small preview of the 8 newest items for sale: the cover photo, title, price, category and the seller's college. Never the seller's name, the description or anything else.
Everything else — full listings, all photos, profiles and names — is visible only to signed-in, verified Cambridge members.
Other members see your name, college, status, photo and listings. They never see your email address.
Messages are visible only to the two people in the conversation.
Reports are seen only by the moderator. Sellers aren't told who reported them.

Sign-up and password-reset codes.
Alerts when someone messages you — at most one every 15 minutes per conversation. You can turn these off on your profile page.
We never send marketing emails and never share or sell your details.

Data is stored with Google Firebase. The database is in London; photos are stored in Google's US data centres.
Codes for signing in are deleted automatically once they expire.

Edit your profile, listings and alert settings at any time.
Deleting a listing removes it and its photos straight away.
To have your whole account and data deleted, email cambsmarketplace@gmail.com from the email address you signed up with.
